Why Wela Atelier
The difference is in
how we work.
Watchmaking is a deliberate trade. The way a piece is handled, assessed, and returned matters as much as the work itself.

Trained hands, direct experience
The watchmakers at Wela Atelier have worked across mechanical and vintage movements for over a decade. This covers manually wound dress watches, automatic sports pieces, and older calibres from Swiss, Japanese, and domestic Thai ateliers. We are comfortable with complexity and patient with movements that present challenges.
- Background in both mechanical and vintage movement types
- Familiar with Swiss and Japanese calibres commonly found in Thailand
- Trained to recognise signs of previous amateur repair and address them properly
In Practice
When a watch arrives showing signs of prior work — mismatched screws, incorrect lubricant residue, or a movement that has been opened without care — we note this in the condition report and discuss it before proceeding. We do not simply work around someone else's mistakes without telling you first.
A process that keeps you informed
Our workflow follows the same steps for every piece: receive, assess, report, confirm, service, test, return. Each step has a checkpoint. Nothing moves forward without the previous stage being completed and documented.
- Condition note shared before any disassembly beyond initial inspection
- Timing results documented and included with the returned piece
- Unexpected findings communicated immediately, not bundled into the collection bill
Service Steps
- 01Initial consultation and case examination
- 02Written condition note prepared and shared
- 03Your agreement to proceed obtained
- 04Service carried out at the correct pace
- 05Timing verification and quality check
- 06Collection arranged, completion note provided
Communication that respects your time
Some workshops are difficult to reach after you have left your watch. At Wela Atelier, Chaiwat manages client communication and is the consistent point of contact throughout the service. If you have a question at any point, you can expect a straightforward answer.
- Named contact for every service
- Clear expected collection window provided at intake
- Responsive by phone and email during workshop hours
What Clients Say
"The thing I noticed most was that they called me before changing anything. I have left watches at other places and found out afterwards what was done. Here it was the opposite."
— Bangkok client, April 2025
Pricing that is stated clearly
Service prices at Wela Atelier are fixed by type, stated in Thai Baht on our Solutions page, and confirmed at intake. There are no variable charges added during the work without prior discussion. If the scope turns out to be different from what was initially estimated, we talk to you before proceeding.
- Fixed service prices in ฿ published openly
- Small bench fee for assessments where work is not proceeded with
- No obligation to proceed beyond initial condition assessment
Service Pricing
Work that lasts
The goal of a service is not just a watch that runs when you collect it. It is a movement that will run well for the next several years. We aim for timing accuracy within acceptable tolerances for each calibre type, and we use lubricants and techniques suited to the long term rather than the quick test.
- Timing documented at collection — you see the actual result
- Lubricant grades appropriate to movement age and type
- Service interval guidance shared for each calibre
What We Return With Each Watch
- Written completion note with findings
- Timing results across multiple positions
- Notes on any parts replaced or sourced
- Recommended next service interval

What Sets Us Apart
Things we do differently
Whole-piece continuity
The same watchmaker handles your piece from intake to return. This is unusual in workshop settings where jobs are often divided between technicians. It means there is always one person who knows your watch's complete history within our care.
Condition notes as standard
We write a condition report for every single piece, regardless of the service type or the value of the watch. Many workshops reserve this for expensive timepieces. We do it because we think every owner deserves to know what was found.
Vintage part sourcing
For older movements requiring replacement parts, we take time to locate period-appropriate components rather than substituting modern equivalents without discussion. This preserves the original character of the piece and is always agreed with you first.
Assessment without obligation
You can bring a piece in for a look without committing to a full service. The assessment gives you a clear picture of the watch's condition and our suggested approach. Many people find this useful before deciding whether or how to proceed.
