Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 8 May 2025 · Wela Atelier · Bangkok, Thailand

These terms set out the basis on which Wela Atelier provides watch repair, service, and restoration to clients. We have written them to be as clear and readable as possible. If anything is unclear, please contact us before leaving a piece with us — we are glad to talk it through.

1. About Wela Atelier

Wela Atelier is a watch repair and restoration atelier operating from 88 Charoen Krung Road, Bang Rak, Bangkok 10500, Thailand. We provide inspection, cleaning, service, and restoration of mechanical, automatic, and vintage timepieces. References to "we", "us", "our", and "the atelier" refer to Wela Atelier. References to "you" and "the client" refer to the person bringing or sending a watch for assessment or service.

2. Accepting These Terms

By leaving a watch with us for assessment or service, or by submitting an enquiry through our website, you confirm that you have read these terms and agree to be bound by them. If you are leaving a watch on behalf of someone else, you confirm that you have authority to do so and that the owner accepts these terms.

3. Bringing in a Watch

3.1 Condition on arrival

We ask that you describe the watch's known history and any current issues as accurately as you can. We will record the watch's apparent condition when it arrives and share this note with you. This record protects both parties.

3.2 Ownership

By bringing in a watch, you confirm that you are the owner or have the owner's permission to authorise service work. We reserve the right to decline a piece if we have reason to doubt ownership.

3.3 Insurance

Pieces left at the atelier are held with reasonable care. Clients are encouraged to maintain their own insurance cover for high-value pieces, as our liability is limited in accordance with Section 8 of these terms.

4. Assessment and Quotation

4.1 Initial assessment

Before any work begins, we will examine the piece and provide a written condition note and a service quotation. We will not proceed with work until you have reviewed and approved this.

4.2 Changes during service

Occasionally, once a movement is opened, we find additional issues not visible at initial assessment. If this changes the scope or cost of work, we will contact you to discuss options before continuing. You are under no obligation to proceed with additional work.

4.3 Declining to proceed

If you choose not to proceed after assessment, we will return the watch in the same condition it was received. There is no charge for an initial assessment unless otherwise agreed in writing.

5. Service Work and Timelines

5.1 Standard timeframes

Indicative service timeframes by service type:

These are indicative timeframes, not contractual commitments. Delays may arise from parts sourcing, the complexity of work uncovered, or workshop capacity. We will keep you informed if your piece is likely to take longer than estimated.

5.2 Parts

Where replacement parts are needed, we will source appropriate components and discuss this with you before proceeding. For vintage pieces, we prioritise period-appropriate parts where available and practical.

5.3 Work standards

All work is carried out to a considered standard of care, appropriate to the age and nature of the piece. We do not rush work to meet arbitrary deadlines.

6. Pricing and Payment

6.1 Quoted prices

Prices are quoted in Thai Baht (฿) and are inclusive of applicable VAT unless otherwise stated. The quoted price is the price you pay, provided no additional work is required beyond what was agreed.

6.2 Payment

Payment is due in full upon collection of the completed piece. We accept cash and bank transfer. We will confirm accepted payment methods at the time of quotation.

6.3 Uncompleted work

If work cannot be completed for reasons outside our control (for example, a required part cannot be sourced), we will not charge for work that was not carried out. Any reasonable assessment costs will be discussed with you in advance.

7. Collection and Uncollected Pieces

7.1 Notification

We will contact you by telephone or the contact details you provided when your piece is ready for collection. Please collect your watch within 30 days of notification.

7.2 Uncollected pieces

Pieces not collected within 90 days of notification, despite reasonable attempts to contact you, may be subject to a storage charge. We will make all reasonable efforts to locate you before any further steps are considered.

8. Our Responsibility and Limits

8.1 Standard of care

We take all reasonable care of pieces in our custody and carry out work with skill and attention. Our responsibility is to carry out the agreed work competently and to handle your piece with appropriate care throughout.

8.2 Pre-existing conditions

We are not responsible for faults or conditions that were present before the watch arrived with us, provided these were noted in the initial condition record or were not detectable by reasonable inspection at that time.

8.3 Inherent risk in older pieces

Very old or fragile components may fail during careful handling or disassembly despite every precaution. We will always discuss this risk with you for pieces where it is relevant, and we will not proceed with work that we believe carries unacceptable risk without your informed agreement.

8.4 Limitation of liability

Our liability for loss or damage to a piece in our care is limited to its fair repair or replacement value, not to exceed the declared value stated at intake. We recommend clients inform us of the approximate value of high-value pieces and arrange appropriate insurance independently.

9. Vintage and Sentimental Pieces

We understand that some watches carry personal or family significance beyond their market value. If your piece falls into this category, please let us know at intake. We will treat it accordingly, keep you more closely informed during service, and discuss any uncertain aspects of the work before we proceed. This does not change the terms above, but it does change how we approach the work.

10. Intellectual Property and Website Use

All content on the Wela Atelier website — including text, images, and design — is our property or used with permission. You may not reproduce or distribute any part of the site without our written consent. You are welcome to share links to our pages.

The website is provided for general information purposes. While we take care to keep information current, we cannot commit to its completeness at all times. Service details and pricing are confirmed at the time of enquiry.

11. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Kingdom of Thailand. Any dispute arising from the service relationship will first be addressed through direct discussion. If a dispute cannot be resolved informally, it will be subject to the jurisdiction of the Thai courts.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Revised terms will be posted on this page with an updated date. The terms in effect at the time you leave a watch with us are the terms that apply to that service.
