From the people who brought pieces in
Somchai Kraivisit

I brought in my grandfather's automatic, which had not been running properly for a few years. Before touching anything, they prepared a written note explaining what they found — I had not expected that level of care. The watch now runs within a few seconds a day. The whole process took about three weeks, which felt right for the work involved.

My late mother's dress watch needed attention — the dial had some surface marks and the movement had not been serviced in decades. The vintage restoration work was thoughtful. They called me before sourcing a replacement crystal so I could decide the direction. The only slight delay was waiting for a period-correct part, but that was explained upfront and I understood why it mattered.

The complete overhaul on my dive watch was thorough. Case and bracelet came back in much better condition than I had expected. What impressed me most was the timing sheet they included — actual numbers from multiple positions, not just "it's running fine." You can see the work that went in.

Honest and direct. They told me what would be involved, what the cost would be, and then did exactly that. No extras added to the bill when I collected. My automatic sports watch runs noticeably more accurately now.

I had been nervous about leaving a vintage watch with anyone after a previous experience elsewhere. The condition note at Wela Atelier made a real difference — it meant I knew the state of the piece before work started, and I could track what had been done. I will bring my other watches here when they need attention.

My father's old dress watch had sat in a drawer for over fifteen years. The complete overhaul covered everything — movement, case, bracelet, the lot. It looks and runs as it should. The team was easy to communicate with throughout, and the timeframe they quoted was accurate.

Case Studies
A closer look at three journeys
Case Study 01
The Situation
A 1970s manual-wind watch that had been running approximately four minutes slow per day. The owner had never had it serviced and was unsure whether restoration was worth pursuing.
Our Approach
We assessed the movement and found the mainspring and several jewels in good order — the main issue was dried lubricant restricting the escapement. A full movement service was carried out with calibre-appropriate oils.
The Outcome
The watch left running within eight seconds per day, well within tolerance for its calibre. The owner was pleased that an older piece could be returned to this condition without replacing parts.
Timeline: 17 days · Service: Movement Service
"I was not sure it could be brought back to this level. The condition report helped me make the decision — I could see it was worth proceeding."
Case Study 02
The Situation
An inherited pocket watch converted to a wristwatch, with an acrylic crystal scratched beyond polishing, a faded dial, and a movement that had not been opened since the 1960s.
Our Approach
We sourced a period-appropriate mineral crystal to replace the scratched acrylic. The dial was cleaned with appropriate solvents to stabilise the fading without altering the patina. The movement received a full service.
The Outcome
The watch retains its original character with a legible dial and a crystal that suits the period. The owner said it was the first time it had felt complete in twenty years.
Timeline: 31 days · Service: Vintage Restoration
"They kept me updated every time something needed a decision. That made all the difference."
Case Study 03
The Situation
A diver's watch purchased new in the early 1990s that had never been fully serviced. The case showed significant surface marks and the gaskets had not been replaced in over a decade.
Our Approach
A complete overhaul covering movement, case refinishing, bracelet cleaning, new gasket fitting, and water-resistance testing to 50 metres. All worn parts were noted in the condition report before any work started.
The Outcome
The watch passed water-resistance testing and was returned with full documentation. The owner described the case condition as "back to how I remember it."
Timeline: 24 days · Service: Complete Overhaul
"The timing sheet was a nice touch — you could see the actual numbers before and after regulation."
