How every service at Wela Atelier works
Regardless of which service you select, the process begins the same way: we look at the piece carefully, note what we find, and share that information with you before touching anything further. The service proceeds at a pace suited to the work, not to any external pressure.
We do not outsource work. The person who assesses your watch is the same person who services it. At collection, you receive a written completion note covering the findings, the work done, and the timing results.

Service 01
Mechanical Movement Service

A full inspection and cleaning of the movement, with lubrication of the key contact points and gentle regulation so the piece keeps steadier time. We open the case carefully, note the condition of each part, and talk you through anything that may need attention before we begin. Suited to everyday mechanical and automatic watches whose owners would simply like them running smoothly again. Includes a written condition note and a comfortable timeframe of two to three weeks.

Work may include sourcing period-appropriate parts, gentle dial cleaning, and crystal attention, always discussed with you first. We move slowly and keep you updated, because pieces like these often carry a story worth protecting. Ideal for inherited or long-owned watches.

Complete Overhaul & Refinishing

A thorough service for watches that have not been opened in many years, covering full disassembly, cleaning, parts review, case and bracelet refinishing, and water-resistance checking where appropriate. We provide a clear written summary of what we found and what we did, with no obligation to proceed beyond the initial assessment. Best for treasured timepieces in need of comprehensive care.

Standards Across All Services
Technical approach and protocols
Calibre-appropriate lubricants
We hold multiple grades of watch oil and grease and apply the correct type for each contact point. Using incorrect lubricants is one of the most common causes of premature wear.
Ultrasonic and manual cleaning
Parts are cleaned using a combination of ultrasonic bath and manual methods depending on their material and condition. Delicate components are handled by hand only.
Multi-position timing verification
After reassembly we test timing in multiple positions and record the deviation. These results are documented and returned with the watch.
Secure storage while in our care
All pieces in the atelier are stored in a locked workshop outside working hours. Disassembled components are kept in dedicated labelled trays.
Full documentation at completion
A completion note is prepared for every piece describing what was done, any parts used, and the timing results. A copy is given to the owner at collection.
Communication if anything changes
If the scope of work changes from the initial assessment — a worn part, an unexpected discovery — we stop and contact you before continuing.
